Rooted in nature

Sofia Pêga.

From design to manufacture, every ROOTE product is made entirely in Portugal, with all raw materials chosen by designer and creative director, Sofia Pêga.

A range of ten pairs of unisex socks make up part of the brand’s inaugural Viagem collection. The packaging is designed simply, with only a gold-stamped symbol displayed.

‘The aim is to be practical, but at the same time elegant and neutral enough for the customer to want to use it later, even as a decorative element of the house,’ says Pêga. ‘Therefore Savile Row Tweed Camel was the perfect solution. Its warm and neutral colour combined with the texture gives it a more refined touch.’

Inside the box is an offset-printed card in Savile Row Plain White, which contains information and shows the full ROOTE logotype, again with the symbol stamped in gold. The tag for the socks is printed on the same type of card.

Pêga’s sourcing of sustainable materials runs though each element of the production process: from the yarn of the product itself (GOTS*-certified, premium organic cotton), to the packaging paper, box and label card.

The design of the socks also emphasises the ‘made in Portugal’ attributes of the wider collection. They are ‘inspired by the characteristics of the different regions of Portugal, deconstructed in graphic elements from minimal to the most daring,’ Pêga explains.
