Mendoza-based branding and packaging agency Mamba Estudio, was founded in 2019 by graphic and industrial designers Angeles Baeck & Nacha Reina. The pair met through a mutual friend and realised that their design work was complementary. From the start, Baeck and Reina have focused upon building strong brands with an approach that makes ‘every project as unique as it can be’.
One of their recent projects is this Malbec packaging for Mendoza winery, Tiezzi Wines. The city of Mendoza, known as ‘the world capital of Malbec’, is the largest wine producer in Argentina. Mamba’s monochromatic label for Tiezzi features subtle textural details and abstract shapes set on different layers of embossing, intertwined with expressive typography. As Baeck puts it, referring to the distinctive details of Mamba’s design: ‘Tiezzi is a label that demands to be explored.’
After several tests with a variety of stocks, Mamba Estudio decided on Tintoretto Gesso for the label, citing its top performance when embossed. Baeck explains: ‘We needed a paper that could support a lot of pressure with a really nice texture, that also went along with the sophisticated concept.’ To produce the packaging they enlisted local Mendoza printing company Adhepel.
