With sustainable issues at the heart of invention, Fedrigoni introduces a new volume of Materia Viva

The newest evolution of Fedrigoni’s Materia Viva collection has launched with a renewed commitment to innovate in the realm of sustainable paper options. The latest volume includes strictly mono-material, 100 per cent recyclable paper for a wide range of print and packaging projects.

The sustainable line offers options that are scratch-proof, grease-proof, water-proof and stain-proof, along with many other benefits. This means that the paper has many of the advantages associated with the properties of plastic. The collection also includes a selection of papers that are ‘resistant to impact, tearing, folding, heat and light without the aid of plastic or other polluting substances’ without the use of lamination.

Micaela Di Trana, Marketing & R&D VP of Fedrigoni Paper explains: ‘The innovation introduced by Metamorphosis, inspired by the principles of the circular economy, is a concrete example of Fedrigoni Group’s “Making Progress” approach to sustainability issues, which … pushes for increasingly cutting-edge solutions, capable of combining performance, aesthetics and care for the environment.’

‘Replacing single-use plastic with paper is possible in many applications and it is also aesthetically pleasing!’

With a range of stocks and finishes the goal of Materia Viva is to replace plastic and ‘elevate the potential of paper’, with all final products or packaging being fully recyclable. ‘Replacing single-use plastic with paper is possible in many applications,’ states Di Trana, ‘and it is also aesthetically pleasing!’
